[Brand] “Our aim is to become the most progressive, transparent and sustainable outdoor hardgoods brand worldwide” Osprey was born in California, 1974 at the seat of a single sewing machine, with a head full of ideas and a desire to design & build innovative backpacks to the highest quality. Today, Osprey products continue that pioneering spirit, being used on the highest mountains to the remotest islands and everywhere in between. Osprey’s sustainability journey began through designing high quality durable backpacks that are built to last, minimising the amount of material that goes to landfill has always been at the top of their agenda. In 2020, they pledged to become the most progressive, transparent and sustainable hard goods brand worldwide, and since have begun to introduce new processes and new ways of thinking. Eco Credentials Recycled Fabrics Their range of 100% recycled fabric packs includes both post-consumer and postindustrial waste. This means that everything from plastic bottles to excess manufacturing materials have been carefully selected and woven into high-quality, durable fabrics. Metal Componentry As well as recycled fabrics, Osprey have introduced highly durable metal componentry. This componentry is built to stand the test of time while also providing the opportunity to be recycled when required. PFC-Free As a responsible brand, Osprey have had to move away from damaging chemicals and towards a more sustainable alternative. Due to this, by 2022, all products will use 100% PFC-free durable water repellent coatings. Post-Consumer Waste Osprey’s Arcane packs are produced from polyester yarns, sourced from recycled PET bottles. This gives your pack a sustainable background, helps clear up plastic bottles and prevents the consumption of natural resources. Minimising Waste Osprey have diverted over 21,471 lbs of waste through their Renewal Workshop partnership from ending up in a landfill. Green Headquarters Osprey’s European HQ has solar panels and up to date energy efficient technology. Whilst greenhouse gas emissions are being measured, reduced and offset throughout the business. Nimsdai Foundation Osprey have partnered with the Nimsdai Foundation, to give back to the mountain communities of the Himalayas; supporting educational, technological, and capacity-building initiatives. Protecting Our Future From clearing man-made structures from mountainous habitats to bird of prey conservation efforts, Osprey are always looking for ways to protect the environments for future generations to enjoy. 89
